Eggplant Fatteh is a Middle-eastern classic dish with a fried pita and eggplant, spiced sautéed beef, warm tomato sauce, garlicky yogurt, and toasted nuts are layered on top of one another for a punch of irresistible flavor. It’s so delicious and tasty.

Eggplant Fatteh Recipe (Fatet Batenjan)
  • 1 large eggplant cut to cubes.
  • 2 Loaves of pita bread
  • 3 tablespoons pine nuts

For the tomato sauce:-

  • 2 large tomato peeled and chopped
  • 1 tablespoon tomato sauce Salt and pepper to taste

For the beef:-

  • 1 cup Ground beef
  • 1 tablespoons Salt
  • black pepper 1 tablespoon
  • 1/2 tablespoons seven spices

For the tahini sauce:-

  • Yogurt Sauce
  • 1 cup Plain Yogurt
  • 2 cloves Garlic
  • 2 tsp. Tahini Paste
  • 1 tsp. Salt
  • 1/3 cup Cold Water


 Eggplant Fatteh

Step 1:-

Cut the eggplant into large 1-2 inch cubes and place them in a large bowl.

Step 2:-

Fry your eggplant for 5 minutes or until golden brown, then set aside You can air-fry the eggplants add some oil ana air-fry them for 20 minutes.

Step 3:-

In a small skillet, add the ground beef with 1 tablespoons oil then cook over medium heat until cooked through. Season with the seven spices, salt, and black pepper. Set aside.

Step 4:-

Eggplant Fatteh

Cut the pita bread into 2-inch squares using scissors or your hands, the. Fry them or air-fry the bread for 5 minutes. Then sit aside.

Step 5:-

Crush the 3 cloves of garlic using mortar and pestle or your preferred method, then add to a medium-sized bowl, Add the yogurt, tahini paste, salt, and cold water. Whisk thoroughly and set aside in the refrigerator to stay cold.

Step 6:-

Now or when you’re ready to eat, Layer the Eggplant Fatteh according to your preference.

I prefer mine;- eggplant, tomato sauce, fried pita bread then the garlic sauce. Top with fried pine nuts. And enjoy.
